Exhibit 1

The discovery of the millennium in terms of understanding the trials and triumphs of our society, the oqual cycle posits that human civilization seemingly undergoes a sweeping global reset once every 84 years on average in order to purge itself of a plethora of wrongdoings from the societal ills through excesses and imbalances to transgressions amassed over that multidecadal period.

Exhibit 2

A cartoon showing the relationship of oqual cycle to its daily and annual counterparts. While the daily cycle is due to the spinning of Earth around its polar axis, the orbiting of Earth around the Sun produces the annual cycle. In a similar manner, the oqual cycle is due to the orbiting of Uranus around the Sun. Note that the schematic shown is not to scale.

Exhibit 3

A timeline of seasonal changes encountered on the southern hemisphere of Uranus over the course of the current oqual cycle (1955-2038) that began in parallel with the start of the most recent Uranian spring in 1955 and is poised to culminate in sync with the end of the ongoing Uranian winter in 2038. Note that the southern pole of Uranus last encountered winter solstice in 1944 with the next one due in 2028, exactly 84 years later. The letter N indicates the direction of the north pole of an imaginary line (solid black) around which Uranus spins on its axis once every 17 hours with the Uranian day being a little more than two-thirds of its terrestrial counterpart. The schematic shown is not to scale.

Exhibit 4

The oqual cycle posits that the progress of human civilization waxes and wanes in a sinusoidal manner over a period of 84 years in a manner akin to the waxing and waning of the moon over the course of a lunar month. Every 84 years on average, such an oqual cycle begins with a honeymoon spearheaded by a new sociopolitical order and ends with a crisis-of-a-lifetime that brings about a synchronized global armageddon so as to break ties with the old-and-degenerate system. In doing so, the oqual cycle ushers in a new dawn of hope and prosperity in a manner similar to the start of a new day or new year. Note that annus mirabilis is the 1st year of oqual cycle that all but guarantees the beginning of several decades of relative peace-and-prosperity ahead before it turns on its head midway dubbed annus turnilis or the 43rd year of the oqual rhythm. On the other side, annus horribilis is the 74th year of oqual cycle flanked by a decade of utter madness underscored by an armageddon.

Exhibit 5

The oqual cycle posits that the overall sociopolitical progress of human society waxes and wanes in a sinusoidal manner over a period of 84 years in sync with the Uranian year in what is dubbed the “canonical model”. However, due to atypical factors at play, the sociopolitical progress of a nation may also ebb and flow over the course of the Uranian year in what is termed the “non-canonical model”. Note that under a non-canonical spell of the oqual cycle, annus mirabilis and annus turnilis switch positions such that the latter now occurs at the beginning of the cycle and the former at the midpoint.

Exhibit 6

A systematic calendar indicating the unfolding of each oqual cycle (OC) since the birth of Modern Age in 1451. The first oqual cycle beginning with the Modern Age is denoted OC1 and the ones thereafter OC2, OC3, OC4, and so forth in a chronological order at an interval of every 84 years. Note that the calendar is synchronized with the Uranian year beginning with the southern spring and ending with the southern winter. Hegemonic wars represent a series of global conflicts that break out during the decade centered on annus horribilis of oqual cycle and which are necessary to bring about a global reset so as to break ties with our dysfunctional past in order to begin anew under a nouveau sociopolitical order. Hegemon is the country that emerges as the most powerful nation in the aftermath of hegemonic wars and goes onto set the new world order for at least the next 84 years. To date, Britain remains the only nation to have carried the baton of hegemony for two consecutive rounds of oqual cycle. That is why it has come to be called Great Britain!

Exhibit 7

A sinusoidal wave showing the current oqual cycle (1955-2038) flanked by its predecessor (1871-1954) and successor (2039-2122). Note that alternating multidecadal periods of relative prosperity followed by complete societal meltdown and vice versa are a hallmark of oqual cycle in a manner akin to the relationship between light and dark over the course of a daily cycle or summer and winter over the course of an annual cycle. While the globe as a whole experiences such a pattern of decades of relatively happy times followed by decades of utter madness over the course of oqual cycle, individual nations however may not necessarily follow this pattern due to their own sociopolitical circumstances. For example, the Chinese society was an outlier to this rule during the current oqual cycle due to a spate of blunders made during the Mao Era (1949-1976).
